Professor at the Faculty of Business, Management and Economics, University of Latvia, research fellow at the Institute for the Study of Labor (IZA) and The Global Labor Organization (GLO) fellow

Professor at the Faculty of Business, Management and Economics, University of Latvia, research fellow at the Institute for the Study of Labor (IZA) and The Global Labor Organization (GLO) fellow. He has served as an expert, consultant, or principal  investigator in numerous projects for OECD, World Bank, USAID, European Commission,  ILO and other international and national institutions. Projects to which Prof. Hazans recently contributed include, among others, “Review on Emigration of Skilled Labour” (for European Commission), ” Study of Return Migration to Latvia” (for University of Latvia),  “Latvia Tax Review” (for the World Bank), “The Emigrant Communities of Latvia” (funded by the ESF),  “Latvia Active Aging” (for the World Bank). His current research deals with labor market issues in Baltic as well as other European countries and has an additional focus on migration and ethnic minorities. Prof. Hazans contributed many book chapters and articles in academic journals. He often comments on labor and migration issues in media.
